The Brief

Designed by CJCT Architects, the project consisted of a 17 storey building in Wembley, London. This project was part of a portfolio of 5 schemes which were built to similar specifications for the same client. The scheme offered 283 student study bedrooms consisting of 11 x 4 bed (44), 15 x 7 bed (105), 12 x 8 beds (96) plus 38no Studios. The scheme also provided ameniuty areas and an affordable workspace area at street level. The scheme was a concrete frame with a traditional brick clad.

The Challenge

With the scheme being a portfolio of 5 projects, the specification is something that was challenging to keep consistent. The 5 schemes weren't built at the same time so there were lessons learnt from the first build which the client wanted to them implement on the other 4 schemes. This meant there were many design meetings and variations in order to capture these changes and work efficiently to achieve programme dates.

The Outcome

Chris worked closely with the client and developer alike to manage all specification and design changes effectively and within budget. Despite COVID 19, the scheme achieved practical completion on time and to a very high standard.
